How would you fill a sinkhole?

With all these sinkholes appearing lately it begs the question, how would you go about filling them? Would it not just create more holes somewhere else? And what if at the end the hole is filled, it then collapses back to the the same depth?

A sinkhole opened up in my driveway a few months ago it started off small and within days it was getting bigger filled it up with round stones you get in most builders providers....oh and I found the reason...

Ive heard that for a few quid you can fcuk whatever you want into the hole.
