Tyre Size question

Was just looking at my tyre size there to get quotes for new tyres.

The ones on the alloys are 195/55/15.

The tyres are a bit crap (Landsail, on it when purchased), so I looked to see what was on the spare to see what was original (Continental).

The spare is a full size steel and the tyre is 185/60/15

I could understand maybe the width being different, but surely the side should be the same height?

Sidewall is expressed as a ratio, not absolute measurement, but there is a very small difference there alright. Spares are often different anyway, but if that is the original size, it seems to be close enough.

the difference between the 2 sizes would be 1.2 mph at 90 mph. so nothing to worry over. under 1mph difference at motorway speeds.

I went to tyre place. He was looking at my tyres and I said the spare was a different size. He knew what size it was without me saying and said it was normal.
