Motorolo Moto E 4g - 59 euro in Tesco

Tesco stores have the Moto E 4g for 59 euro.
    Lollipop, good build and screen.
Doesn't seem to be available at online store.
Good phone and unlock codes from eBay could be of use to non Tesco Mobile users.

*Edited post to say Moto E.

for that price, the motoE. Seems like a good deal for a cheap smart phone for a teenager or parent.

It's the phone I'm looking at getting my mother. I played around with one and found it responsive and fit for purpose.

I played around with a mother as well. Same outcome.

Sorry Yeah. It's the Moto E 4G. Not on the Tesco Mobile Website at all.

Seems good for the price at 4g.

    Yes, €1.50 on eBay.

I bought one and didn't need an unlock code. The phone locks to the first SIM encountered so just make sure to put your own network SIM in it before turning on.

Edited to say it's the older version (2014) but a great little phone.

I got it in Nutgrove a few months ago, maybe there are more available in stores now or maybe they just didn't sell them off then in all stores.

Will they sell it without forcing you to buy credit for Tesco network as well?
Just wondering coz I think Post mobile's MVNO requires you to spend €20 on credit when you get a phone.

You don't need an Unlock code, just put your own SIM in before turning it on.

Never heard of it. Where did you get such an obscure phone.

You can compare phones on gsm arena

    Thanks op.
Got one in claremorris, no Motorola on the phone stand so thought they were gone. Went to customer service desk to pay for a few bits and spotted one on the shelf .

Yes worked with my meteor card, but be careful Tesco have a sim in these phones, so remove it before you turn it on.

got one in Coonagh Cross Limerick - I think there's one left at the customer service desk

Is this for definite? Have you tried another SIM in it after first SIM? Will an ebay unlock code make it fully SIM free?

We had a Moto E (1st Gen) and like you say it worked with the first sim that goes into it.

However, when we brought it to the UK, a box popped up asking for the " sim network unlock code" with the option to enter the code or dismiss.

When you hit dismiss, it worked fine in the UK.

But, we brought it to France and the same box popped up but the phone would not connect to any network when we hit "dismiss".

Had to get an unlock code on eBay to sort it out.

Really? I didn't see it on the shelves last night, and this morning (9am) I asked at the customer service desk and they said they had no Motorola at all.

I think I still have an iPhone 2G in a drawer somewhere. They should get together sometime and reminisce about the good old days before the war with the Androids. :D

Seriously though, if you have any inclination at all to buy this then go for it. You won't regret it.

I picked up one in Killarney this morning as upgrade to my mother's phone and cannot believe how nice it is for the money.
Full Disclosure: I am somewhat biased as I use a second gen Moto X myself, and the similarity in the E is obviously appealing to me. But I honestly think this is hands down the best value I have ever seen in a smartphone deal euro for euro.

    Wha?
Even better than the Smart Turbo 4 for €30?

Definitely saw them last night. All the phones there are mixed up by the TV's at the back of the store. Go hunting there and you'll find one.

If you get it unlocked and stick another sim in it. How do you get the google updated for it. Do they come from Tesco, and/or do you need to stick the tesco sim in it to get it to work?

They'll be pushed to the phone itself, doesn't matter what network you are on when it is updated.

Plenty in Gorey tonight, they were marked 129.99 but scanned at 59.99, that's probably why there was so many.

Definitely the newer 2015 4g model. It's model number XT1524. The older model was XT1021.
