    -110C that's mental !!!!

It may do what they need it to (lessen muscular inflammation) but surely these lads go through enough health risks to add this to the mix!!!

I wonder if there are side effects

I suppose there is a difference between rocks and humans though

Remember as well that this isn't like a freezer (typically -15C - -20C) -110C is colder then anywhere on Earth .. almost deep cold.

    is it really necessary ?

Whats wrong with a long ice bath , or my favourite, dive into sea water

I was on a training holiday in Spala in Poland in 2012 and the Welsh team were there.

I was using cryotherapy at the time and I was in the main chamber with the Welsh forwards a few times that week.

It got down to -145 degrees for 2 mins 30 seconds towards the end of the week.

It's made that cold with liquid nitrogen.
It's a completely different type of cold as they keep the amount of moisture in the air to a minimum.

In terms of my own training, I never recovered as well after training sessions as I did that week and hit a few PRs in the gym that week.

It could have been placebo, and my experience of the treatment was only 9 sessions of cryo over 5 days and I only ever did it once in my life.

Talking the Rob Howley that evening at dinner, they were saying the WRU were gonna build their own cryotherapy unit

I've also done it in Whites of Wexford. I don't have any comment to make on its effectiveness but it's not mental really, just a bit cold and took me a few seconds to get used to breathing in air that cold. I don't think it went beyond -110C though.

Higher sharp hit of cold for whatever time makes it better than a long ice bath/dip into sea...

We used Spala a lot with EOS ahead of 07....
