The A900 may be around 7 years old now, but it is still a fairly high end camera, with a full frame sensor producing 24 Megapixels images. At the time it was launched, Sony were challenging Canon / Nikon in the high end DSLR market, but don't really seem to have made much progress. Although discontinued, there is no replacement model for the A900.

You need to decide what you want to do with a camera before buying one, and if there is an advantage in going for a full frame camera. You might be perfectly happy with a crop sensor camera, Sony have the alpha 77 mkii which is also a high resolution camera with 24 megapixels.

If you want a full frame body, then you are really limited to Canon or Nikon, but be prepared to pay.
