Wiring a sub to a 2004 Yaris STOCK radio...

I got myself a subwoofer for my 2004 yaris. I'm hoping to connect it to the stock radio as I don't like the look of having an after market head unit and the stock one in the dash.

Can anyone advise me on the best way to connect it in? I was looking for wiring diagrams but can't seem to find much of use :/

My thoughts were that the radio is the same as in the T-Sport as far as I can tell, so I was hoping to use the pins that the T-Sport has for the parcel shelf speakers and hook the sub in there, anyone know if it's possible?

If the amplifier you're driving the subwoofer with has high level inputs you can wire it directly off the speaker cables. If it doesn't you'll need to get a high level to phono converter & wire that in between the speaker cables you're connecting into & your amplifier.

You do have an amplifier to go with the sub, right?

Yaris is gonna be a tight fit for a sub and amp. Maybe consider an under floor sub/amp for under the passenger seat (if it would fit)

Should have mentioned, the Sub is an Edge one with a built in amp. I got a cheap wiring harness and stuck in an aftermarket radio to get it going for the moment. Seems to be working grand so kinda thinking I might just leave it as is!

Would I be right to say there wouldn't be a way to connect the subs REM cable to the stock radio?

Not really. That cable just needs to be connected to a switched 12v source, if you're running cables to the back of the radio anyway (phono cables for example) it's easiest to run it with them & wire it in to a cable that switches on & off with your ignition. You can normally find an ignition switch going into the radio unit, or if not at worst your 12v cigarette lighter socket/headlight switch/air controls/fuse box will have an ignition switch depending on the car.

Where is your rem switch wire connected at the moment?

Not a bother! Had one in mine!

I'd recommend you get yourself an aftermarket head unit with a fascia, I thought it made the dash look a lot better than the default cassette player.

Otherwise you will need to get a low level line adapter. If you use the high input on the subwoofer you are prone to quality loss.
