So I arrived at work this morning ( house in the countryside) to find what looks like a mass exodus of caterpillars climbing up one wall of the house. literally too many to count. There's already lots of them at various stages of development looking comfy in the eaves. .

Theyv re getting to a high point where they will attach themselves and form a chrysalis before emerging as adults.

Depends on the species. These may not emerge until next spring.

    Brassicas nearby?
They're Large White Butterfly and will emerge next year most likely April or May.

Also the yellow cocoons of a parasitic wasp are visible in oe of the photos. They've been munching on the caterpillar insides and burst out and form cocoons of their own

There's a field of kale right beside the house.
Just noticed today, there seems to be lots more of those yellow cocoons.
