Looking for the above and most reviews I've read on bottom end stands are not good.
Anybody got one that they are happy with and does the job ?

I true all my wheels, and have done so for years by turning the bike upside down.

Yes, probably just as good as a poor quality stand and you don't have another piece of equipment hanging around

One or two cable ties, cut down, on the forks/ seat stays - if I don't just use the brake blocks.

Check out Roger Musson's book on Wheelbuilding and build your own stand. It's a nice little project.

I have used an old frame with zip ties to build and true wheels with no problems, and to be honest I find having the patience to fo the hardest thing

Hadn't thought of that - the old BSO might have a use yet!

Second this. I made mine out of an old kitchen cupboard and some radiator brackets and spent €5 on a set of coachbolts and wingnuts for the adjustment. €10 for the book is a total of €15 for a versatile trueing stand.

I have since trued a number of wheels, replaced the rim on a crash damaged wheel and built a dynamo wheel for audax...
