Ikea Kitchens

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has delt with Ikea for a Kitchen lately?

Read an old thread on here from 2010 and was shocked to read that Ikea were charging between 2000 -,3,000 grand for installation! Is this still the case?

Do Ikea deliver across Ireland, and if they do anyone have a rough idea on delivery costs?

And can anyone tell me about their experiences of there Ikea Kitchen.

    Thanks

Hi there, we recently installed an ikea kitchen (about 3 months ago). We are delighted with it and have all we wanted and more compared with several other places we looked. The big difference for us was that we have lots of drawers and a massive island which really added to the cost elsewhere but we're very reasonable with ikea.

We got our own installer, and he was impressed by quality and there is 25 year guarantee - no where else came anywhere near that.

As regards delivery, we ordered in the kitchen area in ikea on a Friday morning. We picked out the handles ourselves on the shelves but everything else was picked and delivered by ikea and arrived in the house on the Sunday morning. 95 euro delivery to wexford.

We are delighted, but it did take a bit of too and fro really design - but that is the same anywhere. Do visit their kitchen service and go and see the kitchens.

Also, a few small parts were not available when we were purchasing, so we had to follow up after with customer service who posted these out free.

Out of curiosity, what was the ballpark cost of the installer?

Well it's hard to compare what I got done as depends on size etc. It took 5 days work for a carpenter on his own. We had budgeted 1000 but was a couple of hundred less.

If you have the time, patience and reasonable diy skills, it is definitely doable on your own, but for us, worth a lot more to get someone to do it

Cheers for this, by the sounds of it you have a bigger kitchen than us. We certainly could do alot of the grunt work ourselves, maybe just getting a carpenter to fix in place.

I would definitely go out and do a stint at the kitchen planners in ikea if you were even thinking that way, or even do it on their online site for a start - at least that way you get a good idea of price, and the kitchen service is free.

Seeing now how it's done, if I had time, I would definitely chance putting in one myself - especially a smaller one - has given me the impetus to tackle the utility room and I would never have been a diverse before

Get the quote at IKEA all the lovely planing and design then go to bob the builder and get it half price

We got our kitchen in Ikea about 6 months ago.

    Total cost was about 6k.
    - 2k for the cabinets
    - 2k for the appliances
    - 2k for the installation

That's for a decent sized kitchen with a large Island. We had some problems with the installation (some poor workmanship/attention to detail) but in fairness to Ikea they kept sending the fitters out until they got it right. Very happy with the kitchen overall.

Hi Larry - I saw you had an IKEA kitchen fitted in Wexford. I'm based in Waterford and am looking for someone who'll fit an IKEA kitchen. If you could pass on the details via PM of who did yours, that would be great and much appreciated. Thanks in advance. (i can't PM it seems 'cause I'm a noob!)
