Hi, the drivers side rear window on my 06 scenic broke yesterday, it's down and won't go up. It sounded like a piece of plastic broke, motor still runs when switch is pressed. Would anyone have any idea what it is or how to fix it? Also I have my nct on Tuesday so I'm open to ideas of how to wedge it closed until after this. Thanks

It will be the window regulator mechanism. It is a very common issue with Renaults of that era. Renault were covering them under an extended warranty but yours is probably too old now. Might be worth a phonecall all the same.

If you do end up having to pay for it, expect to pay approx €120 for supply and fit using an independent garage.

In the meantime, can you see enough of the top of the window to pull it up by hand? If so then you can pull it up all the way and wedge in a piece of cardboard or similar at the bottom on the inside of the window to hold it up.

If the window has fallen fully into the door then you will have to remove the interior door trim to push it back up and you can hold it up with a piece of timber inside the door.

It's not an NCT fail. Only the driver's door window has to work for the NCT.

Don't use with the up/down on the window as you could be chewing up the cable inside. Then take off the door panel and if cable look ok, all you need is the plastic clip which costs a few euro
    e.g. http://www.ebay.ie/itm/RENAULT-SCENIC-WINDOW-REPAIR-CLIP-REAR-RIGHT-REPAIR-KIT-/111498003323?hash=item19f5cc837b

Easy enough to fit if you're any way handy.
