Been looking at desktop PCs today and narrowed it down to these two:

http://www.currys.ie/Product/lenovo-h30-desktop-pc/331413/401.2.0 (there is a more expensive version using a SSHD card http://www.currys.ie/Product/lenovo-h30-desktop-pc/333513/401.2.0) and this one

    http://www.pcworld.ie/Product/asus-k31ade-desktop-pc/327826/397.0.0

Any recommendations on which one would be the better buy? I am not into gaming, but need a good machine to run serious databases, spreadsheets and stats programmes, so graphics is not really important to me.
Also - I can't see myself building my own - so I'm looking for a ready to buy thing ;-)
I googled a bit and seems like Asus generally gets the better reviews over Lenovo.
    Many thanks for any help

You should try having a google to see how the software you use performs with different setups. Large databases with frequent reads and writes can benefit a lot from having a SSD as a working drive. Also have a search to see how well they utilise multiple cores as again there may be a benefit in going to a quad core i5 over the i3.

You can potentially get more for your money (assuming your budget is €600) than the ones listed, even if you arent building yourself.

Thanks for the advice! I'm just a bit limited by what's available in the shops. Was planning to buy asap so online shops are not good right now. I found that a lot of the machines use amd processors and after spending a lot of time reading up on it it seems the Intel ones are better. When you're not a computer expert trying to come to grips with all the specs is overwhelming! I thought I had already done a good job with those two!

I saw this one yesterday also for about 800 euro in a bundle with screen. Having read through some of the posts here I think it's not half bad?

Yes -- avoid Lenovo like the plague. They lie about stock availability, which is often compromised, and customer service communications are bad -- chats hard to start and useless etc. There are masses of complaints going back years. I've just ordered a phone that was suppposed to be in stock but is now delayed indefinitely.

If asking between Asus and Lenovo, then Asus all the way. Lenovo are awful.
