We've a terrible record at St.James, we've not won there in about 4 or 5 years.

Jose has never won there, if there was ever a chance to change that it has to be today.

I reckon Chelsea will win 2-0.

Wonder how long it takes Mitrovic to be booked.

    Newcastle will be slaughtered!

Last year they were playing terribly too when we went up to play them and they won 2-1.

That was in December and now I think theyre playing worse so I'm hoping we can win but given how poorly we've been up north through the years I wouldnt be surprised if we dropped points.

    MATCHDAY - TEAM NEWS

Here's how Newcastle United will line up against Chelsea Football Club at St. James' Park today:

Starting XI: Krul; Janmaat, Mbemba, Coloccini (c), Mbabu; Sissoko, Anita, Colback, Wijnaldum; Perez, Mitrović.

Subs: Elliot, Williamson, Lascelles, Obertan, Thauvin, de Jong, Toney.

Good to see wijnaldum start on the wing, persisting with sissoko, mbabu starting at left back, Chelsea to win easily

We really need the 3 points here. All the top 6 teams won today bar city so we've a chance to get some points back on them at least

Newcastle look well up for this.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

How can the same bunch of players be so bad, so often?

    I just don't get it.

Zouma's defending for the goal :pac::pac::pac:

Barcodes value for their lead fair play to them. Ivan is worse than useless how he keeps his place is beyond me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,023 ✭✭✭Barr

NC are good for their lead. They deserve to be in front.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

That was absolutely dire. A team without direction or purpose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,790 ✭✭✭Bret Hart

It's amazing how Chelsea's midfield has gone from being so dominant last season to absolute rubbish this year.

It's strange.... He is a complete shadow of his former self. Looks like he isn't that fit and carrying a few too many kilos. Must have had an enjoyable summer.

Commentary saying this is our best 45 mins this season, it's more like best 45 all year.

Chelsea look compleyely lost. Oscar is out of his depth

When they're not being dropped for being ****e, they think they were doing okay and were just unlucky or hard done by

Defies logic. There's showing faith in a player, and there's time to go out the back and leave old yeller tied to a tree in the forest

Jt was an ever present fixture last year and in the pl team of the season but can't get a look in now, something is very wrong and Ivan playing today has me questioning Jose for the first time in a long time.
Why buy a lb if you don't trust him to bring the balance that his inclusion would undoubtedly bring?

And it's the second LB he's bought in two years.

Shame we couldn't capitalise on city's slip up
Ah well - looks like a fight for 4th this season - and I mean a fight , will not be easy
