    Question 1: No Meter Fitted

Requests cannot be made to have a meter installed as this is not a service that Irish Water currently offer.

If you haven't had your meter installed in an already metered area, this may be due a number of reasons e.g. the stopcock could not be located on the property, your property is on a shared connection, there is something obstructing the installation site etc.

Question 2: Why when everyone in my area has gotten letter to claim grant and not me?

Letters are being be issued by the Department of Social Protection to all those who registered their principal private residences with Irish Water by 30 June 2015.
If you registered with Irish Water by 30 June 2015 and have not received a letter by the end of September 2015, please contact the Water Conservation Grant support team on 0761 087 890 or 1890 100 043.

The order of letters sent was random. Receipt of a letter by a neighbour does not automatically mean a household is due to receive a letter or due to receive one soon.

Question 3: House Purchase – Who Pays?

You are billed for how many days in the quarter for a household that is connected to the public main and/or sewer.

For example, if you lived in the property for three days and sold the house, we would advise you call us. If you call, a member of the team will update your account, and you would receive a closing bill for the period the property was occupied.

If you then informed us you had moved into a different property, we would also update these details and move you into your new home, and your bill would be updated to be inclusive of charges for both properties for the billing quarter.

You are billed on your water usage. This is measurable if you have a meter installed in your property. If you are an assessed customer, you are billed on the number of occupants in your home for the period.

Due to capped charges, which will be in place until 2018, your bill should not exceed 64 euro per quarter approximately.

If you are a metered customer, we can update your account with an estimated meter read based on your average water consumption. Unlike other utilities, water has a typical pattern of usage and we assure you that our estimates are very accurate.

However, if you have a meter and wish to read it, we can also input these meter readings.

For more information on how to safely read your meter, please see here.

Question 4: Irish Water - TIN delays, 1 week to apply?

The Water Conservation Grant is distributed and administrated by the Department of Social Protection and separate from Irish Water. If you are concerned, we would advised you to contact the water grant support team on 0761 087 890 or 1890 100 043 or please click here for more information on the Water Conservation Grant.

Question 5: Rental Question – water grant

The 2015 water conservation grant may be applied for by householders that have registered with Irish Water by 30th June 2015. Customers registering after 30th June 2015 may be eligible for the 2016 water conservation grant depending on the guidelines published by the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government.

All bills are issued on a pro-rata basis. If you are planning to move out, please call 1890 448 448 on the day that you are moving, and member of the relevant department will then assist you further.
