Daewoo Nubira Key Question

    Hi Folks,

Battery went in the key of the missuses Daewoo nubira the other day (about a year ago, but lets pretend I was straight on it!) Anyway, changed the battery and now the key won't work, the light flashes when you press the button, but it doesn't work the central locking and what's worse the key will no longer start the car.
Am I supposed to somehow re-tune it to the immobiliser or something like that? If so, how might I do that?

    Nubira 1, 2 or 3(Lacetti)?

Your issue is odd because the immobilizer transponder (unlike the keyless entry part of the remote) is unaffected by batteries.

If you're talking about the Nubira 3, is it possible that you may have dropped something that looks like this:

    it's happened to me before.

There is no 'user re-tuning' on these cars. The dealer equipped with the SCAN-100 tool is the only one that can program keys/immobilizers to these cars.

Thanks superwofy. I'm not sure if it's a 1,2 or 3 to be honest. It's an 04 if that's any help!
I'm fairly sure I didn't drop anything like the picture, the workings of the key including the battery are in a sealed block, you have to open the battery compartment with a screwdriver but there's nothing else there except the battery contacts all the electronics and the switches for the buttons are at the opposite side to the battery and sealed in with clear plastic.
If I had put the battery in the wrong way around could I have blown something? I'd imagine not, but you never know.

    04< is the Nubira 3/Lacetti.

It is indeed a sealed block. I removed the seal before because I was fiddling with the buttons and managed to drop the chip.

Incorrect polarity shouldn't damage the remote. As far as I know (don't have it in front of me) it's diode protected. And either way, the remote and the immobiliser chip (picture above) are not related.

Unfortunately, there is no more help I can provide without hands-on with the car. Could be anything from a naughty immobiliser controller to loose connections.

Try and disconnect the car's battery. Most likely won't do anything but you might aswell try if you haven't already.
