I just started work and my fiance informed the dole as he is on BTEA, and has been for 2 years. His payment has now been reduced from €156 to €93. I thought that BTEA wasn't means tested? Or at least that the rate remains the same for the duration of his course? He's 31 and we cohabit.

Welcome to Enda's idea of supporting education.

Anything your partner earns will be means tested against your payment as the rules changed last year. Although on the bright side you can still work without having your means brought into the means assessment.
