For non Medical Card holders ....
It works out much cheaper to buy your prescription drugs, three (or better 6) months at a time. (Compared to monthly purchases)
This is because there is only one dispensing fee per purchase.

How does this work for Medical Card holders?
Is there any benefit in buying 3/6 months at a time?

It has no impact for medical card holders as its not allowed.

Some - older, mostly - drugs are cheaper to buy as 6 months privately than to pay 6 medical card dispensing fees. Not many though.

Many drugs are not suited to multiple months dispensing.

    That fully answers my question.

Most pharmacies will not dispense more than 3 months supply nowadays.
