    Any recommendations?

    Weightless Astronauts were booked.
    I've short listed:

    Pyramid
    KIF
    Oddity
    Elastic band

Have you ever seen any of the above bands play at a weeding, or recommend another band to go and view?

Pyramid I've heard and are very good, heard good things about Oddity too.
Throw 'Fraggle Rock' into the mix :)

Saw Oddity at a wedding, they were very good and it was a diverse crowd. Lewd tunes also supposed to be good..

TBH we had Weightless Astronauts at our wedding and they were only OK. Took a really long break in the middle (too long) and it just kind of killed the rest of the dancing, as most people ended up leaving the function room and not coming back. I was at another wedding since where they played and same thing...it was commented on by a lot of other guests in our company.
But they are good generally but I wouldn't recommend them for that reason. They are booked out anyway, as you say, but I suppose I am saying this as others will probably check out this thread in the future.

Pyramid and KIF are really good. Elastic Band also good. Been at weddings where all three played. The Guinness Jazz Band are also really good..not sure if they are still on the go, but they are excellent.

Does it have to be a Galway band? I was at two weddings these guy's played at, one over 2 years ago and the other one month ago and was blown away by them on both occasions.

They give it socks from start to finish and Dublin based but regular visitors to Galway.

I have no connection with them whatsoever other than to say I can't see you having a bad day if you did get them.

Check a sample of them Sugar Cubes

By the way, I was in the band business for many years in Galway and while I'm all for keeping it local, your special day is what's most important.

Best of luck on the day whoever you get ;)

It doesn't really matter where the band are from, I would of just though local people would have more knowledge of local bands, and the ones I've listed are bands I've watched live, but never at a wedding.

It also makes checking them out easier by watching them somewhere local, rather then having to travel to view them live.

Thanks for all the advice, I've sent off emails checking availability. Cheers.

We had galway based band the converse allstars. They play pretty regularly in galway if you want to check them out. They were brilliant, friend of mine just booked them after seeing them at our wedding.

We had the Good Guys. Would highly recommend. Very good musicians, professional and great music repertoire. They travel all over the country. I'm sure so do most wedding bands.

The Suite are great and haven't been mentioned yet :) I really didn't like Fraggle Rock when I heard them, Pyramid very good too.

Has anyone been at a wedding with Face Value? Heard the name mentioned as good from years ago, but not heard anyone speak about them recently.

Charade have a new lineup too I believe, some of the members of the former Silkwood are with them now. Haven't heard them yet though.
