First MMA class

I've always been fascinated by and a long time admirer all things MMA, I've always wanted to train and eventually compete but there was always something in the back of my mind that kept me from doing it, maybe the thought of going in as a complete beginner and mixing with people with years of training and making a fool of myself. I've just started college and with an MMA club in the college I can't find a reason not to give it a go. I consider myself fairly athletic and agile, playing other sports for years, but I've no idea what to expect from even my first class. Im only 17 and I know I wont be thrown to the sharks straight away but will we be starting with basic stance and movement or will I get straight into rolling and sparring with other beginners?
I'm mad excited to get into it as it's been one of my dreams for a while now, but I'm also anxious as I don't know what to expect!
    Any help/advice appreciated, cheers.

Best advice I can off you is just go, get started.

You won't be thrown to the sharks straight away, and in fact you're safer with older and more experienced lads.

Some clubs start their noobies sparring straight away, a lot don't. You might be invited to roll for a bit first ~ ie grapple without striking, this is great fun and regardless how fit and agile you are most people are amazed at just how little they actually know and just how useless an experienced grappler will leave you feeling.

But stick it out for a month or two and you'll be amazed at your early progression. Its really great fun.

    Give it a go.

It really is this simple, and I'm not trying to sound like an arsehole, genuinely trying to help.

Step #1 - Find a local MMA gym.

Step #2 - Contact said gym and find out about starting classes.

Step #3 - Meet with one of the coaching team before starting and explain any and all concerns you have to them.

Step #4 - Either join up at said gym or keep looking around if they way they do things doesn't suit you.

I started just a couple of months ago. For anyone going into a new gym is going to be a little daunting you just have to bite the bullet and walk in they know it can be tough for people so once you do then they are always going to be happy to help you. I'm glad I did because I am loving it! For the first month or so you will likely only be doing pads and drills they aren't going to have you sparring until they have helped you get the technique sorted.

Do be prepared for how hard it is though I was a serious track runner and did a lot of sports as well but the first real session I did was killer I could barely move for a couple of days! But its a good feeling as you know you've put the work in.
