Fair play to the NCT, an employee was caught conning the system and he was dealt with diligently:

How differently two people can view the same story!

it depends on your point of view. There was a dodgy tester, but his employer took measures to detect his activities and sacked him, which suggests that they are trying to maintain standards.

Edit: threads now merged, I fully agree with F1ngers.

Merged. Title changed to article title.
The firm that operates the National Car Test (NCT) hired a private investigator to spy on a tester it suspected of breaching its code of integrity.
Fair play, they check on their own testers to weed bad ones out.

He said that this was common practise and one which was known by Mr Billingsley’s supervisor.

    Scary stuff, if true.

Are they recalling the cars he tested.
What happens if one of the cars he 'passed' has a serious safety/structural fault and has an accident due to this fault?

He was sacked in 2012. No car he passed will still be on the road with his NCT.

    ill rephrase so.
At the time , did they recall any of the cars he passed, What would happen if these cars had a serious safety/structural fault that caused an accident.
