Irish Water - TIN delays, 1 week to apply?

I (reluctantly) registered with Irish Water at the beginning of the year and as of 18th September I still have not received my TIN.

Turns out I have to wait until the 29th of September and only then call to apply before the 8th of October. That leaves only a week to apply for the grant!!

What are the options if we happen to be unavailable due to work commitments, or being abroad for work reasons or in hospital, or any other perfectly valid reason? And what about elderly people or less able ?

It is extremely inconsiderate for starters, and I wonder what is being done about all the feedback and comments that relate to this matter, I have seen many on different posts in this forum and others.

Can someone share what the claiming and the complaints procedures are please?

    thanks

    Hi MrsSRS,

    Thank you for your query.

The Water Conservation Grant is distributed and administrated by the Department of Social Protection and separate from Irish Water. If you are concerned, we would advised you to contact the water grant support team on 0761 087 890 or 1890 100 043 or please click here for more information on the Water Conservation Grant.

I hope this information helps. Please feel free to contact us with any other queries you may have.

    Kind regards,
    Niall

    Hi Niall,

Who issues the TIN, Irish Water or the Department of Social Protection?

    thanks

Agree with you totally Mrs SRS.  As I mentioned in another thread I've noticed that it appears to be quite a lot of OAPs who have not received their letter yet.  I both registered and paid my bills on the same day as my mother.  I got my money into my bank account during the week but she is still waiting on her Water Conservation letter/details therein.

When you mention 'Turns out I have to wait until the 29th September' do you mean that you have been in touch on the Social Protection phone line and you have been told to wait until then?  Can you perhaps apply for another TIN here

Disorganisation as usual on any matter that is even remotely to do with I.W. and yes I do know that 'its Social Protection who are dealing with this'.

The TIN is a Transaction Identification Number that will be included on the letter that you receive from the Department of Social Protection. It is an added security requirement aimed at ensuring somebody can only apply for the grant if they have received a letter from the Department of Social Protection.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards,
    Allanah
