Hi I'm starting a 14 week course in business management next week. I have no qualifications other than my leaving certificate. I have worked in retail as a sales assistant for the past four years and I want to progress to supervisor/trainee manager some time soon.

Wondering would a course in biz management be good when applying for trainee manager jobs and would employers value it ?

    Thanks.

Considering you have significant experience, why not talk to your employer? They may even sponsor you to do a course that they acknowledge.

Sorry, this sounds like you want to buy a promotion. You mentioned nothing about your results as a sales assistant. What remarkable things have done for your store? Have you shown leadership during the last four years? Have you demonstrated how your skills have translated into more sales? What sort of things have you done in the last four years that have shown initiative? In summary, have you been a remarkable employee?

Sorry if that sounds a little harsh but anybody these days can get a degree or diploma in something-ology. Its your implementation of skills which employers look for and of course your fit into your team.
