Hi there I am looking for some advice on the rental rate for a 50 acre hill farm with 20 acres commonage .The land has not been looked after and is rushy and wet only suitable for sheep I think.I inherited it recently and hope to farm it in a few years and semi retire! on it.I don't live near it at the moment though.
    Any advice would be good.
    Thanks John

If you can get someone tidy locally to lease it for 5 to 7 years and tie the lease to farm improvements you might be doing well -

Its tricky to put a price on it without knowing what it could hold stock wise and are there any entitlements with it .
As a new entrant farmer it could be suitable for drawing down SFP if you were qualified

Around here it would make around 50 euro an acre
Some people here would have paid up to 300 an acre but the land you describe will need drainage lime and possible reseeding and even then still won't be as good as low land.
You could spray and top rush's and ask for a bit more when its green
