Best of luck with it. Good to see something a bit different on.Since it's an electronica thingy, any chance any of it's being streamed? ( Don't live in Ireland but would be interested in seeing some of it). A lot of contemporary festivals and events sell online tickets now as well.Might be worth looking into for the future.

Thanks for your thoughts. In reality there are online tickets, the plonker (me) who made the original post forgot to mention them. Thanks for the heads up too.

No bother. I was talking about tickets to view the events online. Some movie festivals do it now, where they stream stuff online so it's kind of like a virtual festival.
Blizz Con do it for WOW as well. Open up the event to a much bigger audience.
Once again good luck with it.

Oh yes now I see. Honestly not sure but working on it. I've done live streamed events for my own concerts in Europe and we streamed some previous year's festival events. This year is our 3rd but are running on fumes and goodwill from all the artists who are travelling purely because they've heard about how unique our festival is anywhere in Europe. But for sure if we can get streaming going then it will. Thanks again for your good wishes mate.

It is indeed the place. In recent years it has been one of the 2 cool community run galleries in Waterford. Hive located in the old News & Star office and our other festival location is the other for a pretty unique sound installation with motion, light and heat sensors influencing what is heard is all based around sound recordings made in our city by a veteran German composer and friends.

As part of Sonic Dream Festival the South East Makerspace are running a Piezo Microphone Workshop:

In this workshop, participants will make their own contact microphone and preamp pickup.

Contact microphones are made from piezo discs which are commonly used in guitar pick ups. These little discs are extremely sensitive to vibration and can be used as sonic microscopes, so when pressed onto objects it becomes possible to probe for hidden vibrations as sound.

Workshop participants will solder their own pre-amp circuits to modify the piezo’s signal to levels compatible with audio equipment. Each participant will keep the piezo pickup they make which can be used as a guitar pick up to electrify an acoustic guitar or as a device to explore the lesser heard sounds around us.

All are welcome please use the Online booking to attend

Would of liked to have gone to this. How did it go? Will it be happening again next year?

It went really really well and am thrilled with everything. There is no other festival quite like ours in Ireland according to so many of our artists. It's so personally satisfying to see something that started out with nothing gaining an international reputation for what we are doing. Over the moon today and already working on our festival for 2016 with first acts confirmed.

Great to hear, I had a mate who was very interested in coming down but unfortunately something came up last minute, he said he won't be missing it next year for sure!
