Yeah its really silly, imagine being in San Diego, San Fran or Arizona and being forced to watch your team at 10am on a Sunday morning when there is a bunch of free slots for games at 1pm.

Also for the sake of Redzone, you'd think they want to spread the games out evenly.

I think the Chiefs beat the Broncos tonight

Looking forward to staying up and watching this live tonight, although it could end up being a bit of a horror show for Denver fans.

Chiefs looked impressive against the Texans in week one, and I found it hard to take anything from the Broncos game other than we look significantly worse on offense than we did at the tail end of last year. The running game was pedestrian, and Manning looks to have the same issues that plagued him at the tail end of the season gone.

That said - If the Ravens have an especially good Defense, maybe that sort of offensive output was to be expected. We should have a better picture after tonight.

I'll be optimistic and say Denver to win 20 - 17.

To be honest - the Texans would probably make anyone look good.
and I found it hard to take anything from the Broncos game other than we look significantly worse on offense than we did at the tail end of last year. The running game was pedestrian, and Manning looks to have the same issues that plagued him at the tail end of the season gone.
I disagree - the Broncos defence looks like it could be the best in the league. The pass rush will be the torment of QBs all season.

Manning does not look good - he will have to improve. It was noticeable that the only time the Broncos moved the ball against the Ravens was when they stopped running Manning's offence and started running the WCO in the fourth quarter. Running the ball out of the I gave Hillman an opportunity to see the running lane and cut.
That said - If the Ravens have an especially good Defense, maybe that sort of offensive output was to be expected. We should have a better picture after tonight.
The big problem for Denver tonight is that the game is in Arrowhead. The crowd noise gives the Chiefs defence a half step advantage. Given that the Broncos OL is very much a work in progress it could be a very long night for them and if the Chiefs can tee off with the crowd they could crumble Manning.

The Broncos have a chance if they go ahead - the defence will keep them in the game. If the Broncos go behind it will give the upper hand to the Chiefs and Manning has not shown anything so for this year that he is capable of winning a game from behind with his arm.

Because of where the game is I'm going for a Chiefs win.

No, only Red Zone and you don't get that on Thursdays. The ad breaks pay the bills unfortunately. What annoys me is the way they announce a kick off time and it never kicks off at that time. A cynic would suggest it's a way of getting people to tune in for an ad break out of fear of missing a big kick off return...fortunately I'm not a cynic

Goalline play calling was poor there, and unforgivable from Charles, to come away with nothing there never mind a TD has the potential to be a big momentum shift, they cut through the Broncos with ease till they shat the bag on the goalline.

Some stat from the Chiefs WR corp!

Jesus Charles, should've just dropped the 1st and goal that brought them from the 2 to the 5, and then the fumble.

Chiefs D eating them alive on these opening two drives.

Important to capitalise on this domination

Bit of family competition going on between the punters tonight as his brother plays for the Chiefs.

Heck of a play by Parker there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

Broncos offense is all over the place. It has largely been unrecognisble ever since Manning picked up that injury at the end of October last year. The O-line isn't helping of course, anyone would struggle with the level they are playing at.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,599 ✭✭✭matthew8

Chiefs first drive was effective, but after that it's just been pressure all around. Looking a defensive game, Chiefs look better able to chip away down the field but Denver threatening a big play. Manning first misses Sanders a bit on a deep ball, then Sanders loses a well thrown one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,275 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

Need the Chiefs offense to get a drive going like the first again, and actually finish the thing this time. Not going to keep Manning and Anderson quiet all night so important to get points on the board. Serious defensive battle out there!

The officials trying to bail themselves out of clearly not noticing the fumble by saying the returner was down by contact. :pac:

Broncos lose a 4th down conversion as they called timeout. In fairness surely they would've been done for delay of game otherwise, at least if the NFL Network play clock was correct.
