Howdy, I've got a Miele washing machine, 9 years old never gave trouble. Couple of weeks ago it stopped filling and red light flashing in front saying check water inlet. Checked all the inlet filters and cleaned them, no joy. It would sometimes work and then other times no until eventually it stopped working altogether. I figured it to be the inlet solenoid and bought one from source, fitted it today and still no joy. Before anyone asks, I did a 6 month domestic appliance course with Anco in 76 so a basic knowledge. Any ideas ? all help appreciated. Bloody solenoid was €51.

Check that it isn't something silly like a kinked inlet pipe. Maybe a loose connection to the solenoid or a dry joint on the PCB.

well at least you have learned that 51e worth hasn't fixed it, minimum you need is a meter to check the solenoid coils but seeing as you have fitted new ones you will still need to check to see if its getting a mains supply when set to fill, if its getting a mains supply the problem is within the water supply. have you noticed any dampness on the floor recently? as these machines are a bit more complex than other makes you will more than likely need a tech, that has experience on Miele, with flashing light there is the possibility that its the module which costs circa 450e

Thanks for the responses guys, there is a decent supply coming as far as the solenoid and there doesn't appear to be water anywhere else. I have a terrible suspicion that it is the module, any easy way to check it ? or will I have to get a Miele tech in.:(
