    Hi all
Went to 3 different garage and getting too many different opinion that i d say i ll asked here.

Bought this bmw e90 3 month ago and since a month airbag and seatbelt lights keep coming back even after getting it fix from garage
Also 2 days ago abs and engine lights came on which is affecting driving on bends and sharp corners.

1st garage said its normal that she used a lot of oil but pretty sure you cannot put in a litre every week after driving 60 km per day

2nd garage said engine needs to be rebuilt and the cost should be between 1 to 2 k.

3rd that I've asked is telling me head gasket might be gone and the cost should be around the same 1k above...

Really need some advise guys I am no expert on cars and not a mechanic but a great chef

On a serious note really need some professional advise
    Thanks

Where are you based? You really need someone who is familiar with these cars.

Did you buy privately or from a dealer?

There is some evidence to suggest BMW used a crap underseat connector in some production runs (MINIs and some other BMW models).
If it's just a flakey underseat connector I wouldn't worry about it too much - I'd worry about it after you decide on the other problems you describe.

BUT - if the error is due to anything else I would start to get worried.

What model E90 is it OP? I have a 318i which just had to get the valve stem oil seals replaced. These are o-ring seals fitted onto the top of the valve stem's in parts probably costs less than a tenner but the labour is quite expensive as the head has to be taken off. Mine was still in warranty but BMW said that its a costly procedure but I'm sure an independant could do it for much cheaper.

To test this, drive the car until it reaches full temperature then stop and leave it tick over for 2-3 minutes. After that get someone to rev the engine sharply for a second whilst you look at the exhaust. If there is a plume of blue smoke that comes out its most likely the valve stem oil seals.

Can you see the bare engine? if not have a look under the cover and pay particular attention around the sides of the engine for oil. If there is a lot of oil coating the side of the engine then its losing oil through a seal of some description. Could be a rocker cover gasket which is quite a cheap fix but if it seems to be coming from the mid point between the cylinder head and the cylinder block it is most likely the head gasket. (common on the diesels I hear!)

As for the sensor showing the airbag/seatbelt sensor. BMW's have a common problem where by the sensor in the passenger seat called the mat sensor can break. This is a sensor in the seat that senses a person sitting in it. Mine went on my old 5 Series when I was having the windows tinted. The guy kneeled on the seat and broke it, an utter nightmare as a new one comes with the seat cushion and is a b*****d of a job to do from what I hear. I didn't bother getting it

hi again lads thanks for the tips, bought it privately, there was no bluesmoke but instead kind of a white smoke when i go on 1 st gear after driving off lets say from a trafic light for eg.today all the warnings lights came on abs engine lights and the triangular sign with the semi circle around which keep slowing down the car on curves n bends.after an hour parking the car and drove off no warnings lights were on the dashboard apart for the engine n airbag..
