    im going to the usa for a while, and was wondering if theres an irish bank that I can get some tip money (1s and 5s) from before I go? just for handiness sake.

    Any of the banks that sell dollars will have some small bills. People who come back and don't intend returning soon will walk in with a mix of notes and cash them in so they should have some smaller notes.

    If you're getting a taxi from the airport then you can tip the driver from the change, ditto if you eat in a diner. If you land in a hotel and don't have small bills to tip the porter then just hang on to your bag. I've been to the US several times and it's never something that I've worried about before travelling.

    In a restaurant the tip should be 15% minimum.

    Any less and you're sending a clear message that you were dissatisfied with the service.

    15% is often considered too low too.
