Hi, i've been trying to eat healthier dinners - I like quantity and it tends to be around 7 in the evening when I have dinner. It's my biggest meal, followed by breakfast (porridge), then lunch (salad).

Of the list below which is the best and worst? Not trying to lose weight but looking for ideas of what could I try instead to make things healthier - open to all food types!

My dinner plate is big and I like to have a full plate!

    1. Sunday roast - 3 large slices of meat, broccoli, carrots, large mash/5-6 roast potatoes.
    2. Lasagne with cheese on top - large portion (2/3 plate) with side salad
    3. 2 Chicken Breasts in the oven with a full tesco boil in the bag brown rice, tin of chopped tomatoes as sauce
    4. 2 Spiced Salmon stakes with brocolli, carrots, mash.
    5. 350g Lean steak mince pack with a full tesco boil in the bag brown rice and a jar of tomato sauce/con carne mix/curry sauce etc...
    6. Omelette with chopped peppers, mushrooms etc... (4 eggs)

That's a typical week of dinners with one of the above two days running (e.g. lasagne).

    I find if I have a smaller meal, I'm snacking around 9/10 o clock!

    All ideas welcome!

For lasagne use wholewheat lasagne sheets, extra lean beef mince (5% fat) and instead of using cream use cottage cheese. Also try making your own sauce by using tomato puree.

A good tip that I use would be to try making my own sauce. For example, for the chicken curry sauce I use curry powder, paprika, turmeric, cayenne, chicken broth and ‘light’ coconut milk. Much better and tastier than buying a sauce in a jar.

Overall they are some decent dinners. Good source of proteins, with quality carbs and you’re also eating vegetables.
