Hi, can anyone suggest in the Dublin area a mechanic that knows abot Volvo cars.
I have a 2007 V50 volvo and the computer read th giving a massive lust of problems.
My local mechanic honestly states he hasnt a clue where to start.
I have already been to a main dealer...All these issues occured within weeks of a full service. I have NO interest in returning to them.
Please help as we only bought the car last year and I feel its good for the dump..
    Thanks

To be fair. If there's loads of faults he should just erase them and start from there.

Volvos seem to log faults in every control unit in the car like no other.

Not a DIY effort, moved from DIY to main forum.

    1. Make a note of all fault codes
    2. Erase the codes.
    3. Drive the car until the engine light comes on & run diagnostics.
    4. Fix problem listed.
    5. Revert to step 3.

If your mechanic can't do that, find a new mechanic.

    Thanks for the replies,
The garage I have used says once he drives the car the plethora of problems comes up all again. They have run this a couple of times and do not know where to start. That is why I am asking if anyone can suggest a Dublin independent mechanic with good experience of Volvo issues.
The garage I am dealing with have suggested the car would be better scrapped than trying to fix all the problems listed though they do not know which are genuine. I have been driving the car, its like a bus to drive, for over a year with hazard lights on and it keeps going!

Apparently these guys have an ex Volvo master mechanic. http://www.scullyautocare.ie/

I've never used them though so can't personally recommend.
