barring order - non family member.

I'm thinking about seeking a barring order against somebody who has been harrassing me and a relative.
General abuse mostly both verbal and text but I've had the police show up to my house twice on false allegations in recent times. The police had a look around and left saying all was fine on both occasions . We aren't involved in crime and have no issue with anybody bar this person so it's clear where the "we are acting on information" came from.

My relative is concerned regarding escalation of these issues not to mention how it looks to the neighbours.

However looking on citizens information its seems barring and protection orders are related to families. This person is not a relative so not sure would that work.

Is there an alternative for non family members?

    Thanks

Make a complaint to the Gardai about the harrassment.

You cant stop the Gardai carrying out their functions but it would be unusual for them to carry out a search because a randomer says so. The Garda Ombudsman can investigate if they are acting unreasonably. But probably better to get the Gardai on side rather than complaining about them.

I'm happy with the conduct of the gardai they were polite and all that. Given the nature of the accusation I'm happy they'd to act on it.

But I do agree , I think a trip to the garda station is in order to make a compliant and see about the Asbo.
