vat registration thresholds

Hi, my accounting period is 30 April each year and I have been close to the VAT Threshold.

I have done an exercise to see what my turnover has been on a rolling 12 month basis and it would appear that I have been over the threshold from 1st february 2014 to 31 january 2015, a 12 month period, and straddling 2 accounting periods.

Then the turnover has fallen below the threshold again. Do I need to register for VAT?

If you cross the threshold in any 12 month period then you have to register. Your accounting year end is irrelevant.

Make sure you are looking at the right thresholds - one for services and one for goods

    Thanks Viztopia,

I suppose the question really was, is there any relief from having to register for VAT where the threshold has been exceeded temporarily, and if yes, how temporary is temporary?

    Thanks
