What would you recommend as a starter kit at the moment?

Hi, i've been asked to recommend a starter kit and I know things change so quickly in vaping and I havn't used a clearomizer in years.
I'm going to have a look but I know I won't be sure so just wondering what people would recommend now?

    Edit:
I'm seeing RBA's with cotton listed in starter kits (which I think is nonsense). I think all variations of ego vv are poor.

How about an iStick with a clero and a few replacement heads?

    Absolutely.
The eLeaf iStick 30w should be available cheaper nowadays (better build quality and power delivery than the 20w) and for an easy to use atomiser its hard to see past the Nautilus Mini, or the eLeaf GS tanks, whether mini or full size.
The GS is much cheaper than the Nautilus though.

I suppose they're intended as entry kits to sub ohming, direct lunging and rebuilding rather than vaping in general.

I second the istick and nautilus mini. The tight draw and drip tip on the nautilus mini actually mimics the feel of a cigarette quite well. The istick is easy to use and you don't have to mess around with charging 18650s, just plug it in at night like a phone.

I'd also check out the eGrip OLED. All in one job. I've had one now a couple of weeks and have been using it exclusively. Lovely vape off of it and suits mouth to lung inhales (like I prefer). Real small too. I'm going to get myself another one.

It takes replaceable heads and also has a rebuildable head (sold separately).

Anyway to tell whether one has a 20w or 30w?

Have my eLeaf iStick about a year. I've had to mothball it and go back to my iTasteVV after I realised it wasn't dud clearo heads that were giving me immediate burnt taste but the iStick. A couple of weeks ago I put a new head in and got burnt hits straight away. Was about to change the head when the iStick battery ran out. Before changing the head in the clearo I popped it onto my old iTasteVV from the drawer and no burnt hit. Swapped it back to the iStick now on its charging cable, burnt hit again. Then I remembered possibly hearing about bad voltage regulators in the iStick.

So the 30W version resolved those issues??

In which case I'll order one instead of ordering a new iTasteVV like I was going to.

What ohm coil are you using and at what voltage/wattage?

Yeah that info would be handy alright :o

Kanger T2 top coil 2.4ohm at 3.0V. I know top coils make a difference to the heat of the vape but I still cant get my head around you 15-20-30+ watt'ers. Boggles my mind. I can tell when the voltage has changed in my pocket up to 3.4v from 3.0v which is how many watts? Not many I believe. My sensitivity to wattage would explain not liking a hot vape but surely it cant explain the burnt taste.

I was asking as I have the iStick 30w with a Nautilus Mini tank. Running a 1.9 ohm coil, I find I can't go over 4.8v or 12.1w. If I do I end up getting nasty burnt hits.

A couple yeah, it might be written on the bottom in teeny tiny writing.
Or you could see how high the wattage will go on the screen.
But the easiest is that the 30w has a different top part, which has a big 'lip' on it, where the 20w is flush with the body at the top and bottom.

As for your burnt taste, yes the 20w had dodgy output, where 8w was more like 10w.
When putting a new coil on any device, always reduce the power and slowly go back up until you find your 'zone'.
Each coil is a wee bit different, and each liquid too.
Always just safer to go low at first.
And of course prime your wick, i.e. let it soak up liquid before you vape it.

    Hi,

I'm too am looking for a decent starter kit. I want to recommend one for an elderly person too so something that's not too fiddly.

I had the ego myself a few years ago but it really wasn't up to much.

Am really looking for a device that's very popular amongst vapers, cost, what liquids and when to get this.
There's just so much info here to really discerned. Thanks

    Elderly?
Honestly, I'd go with an ego battery or iStick 20w or 30w and GS air tank or Nautilus mini.

There is a certain amount of "fiddly" if you want a nice vape.

You could probably minimise that by getting an iStick and locking the settings so that it can only be used at a fixed wattage. This should allow a decent vape without your elderly friend having to get to grips with power adjustments or accidentally bumping the power and burning the atomiser.

That would just have them refilling and changing the coil as needed.

The joytech ego one looks pretty impressive, not really new anymore, but has great potential for getting in to rebuilding if you buy the CLR heads too

I've two of them, the baby one and the Mega. The small one is fantastic for certain situations due to its stealthiness. Its a great addition to anyone's collection both beginners and experienced vapers.

The stock coils are great but there's no real point in using the 0.5 coils with the smaller 1000 mah battery. the 1.0ohm coils are more suited.

The Mega with the 0.5 coils is v impressive clouds wise and the updated version has a 2600mah battery rather than 2200mah original.

I have the rebuildable CLR heads but found them very fiddly. If I had a drill bit that was able to fit into the coil head it might have helped. Im sure I'll try again when I use the stock coils I have currently.
