    Hi all

I'm currently getting 3k in about 24 mins (I know, not exactly get up and cheer times is it).

Trouble is, I'm barely able to do that.Once I pass 3k my legs just clamp up.

Any advice in how to get past that barrier?

Have my first ever 5k in a few weeks and really want to complete it

    Heya,
Check out the couch to 5km app if the thread is too much. It's supposed to be a great program. You possibly need to slow down and then you'll be more able to build up the distance.
Do you have any stretching in routine?
Stick with it. It gets easier and more importantly enjoyable.

Also recommend "Couch to 5K". It's a gateway drug ;)

Slow down your running. Aim to be out running/walking for about 35 minutes but walk for one minute every 5 minutes. Once you can do that for 35 minutes cut back to walking one minute every 10 minutes then one minute every 15 mins then try to run the 5k. Good luck.

agreed, intersperse some walking, 50:50 on time for run:walk is a simple way to do it.
