Term time working\Shorter Working Year

    I will be looking for new employment in the New Year as my current company is winding down. For the last 2 years I have been able t take parental leave over the summer which suits family and childcare arrangement. I am hoping to secure either part-time employment (to link in with school time) or full time with a term time\shorter working year option (e.g work 47 week but be paid for this over 52). Would this be a realistic option in the Private Sector I wonder and is it something I should bring up at interview stage? Any advise would be much appreciated

    Most jobs will pay over 52 weeks as you are entitled to a min. 4 weeks off in a full time job.

    OUtside of the public sector the concept of term time would be relatively unheard of tbh.

    There is parental leave available but i'm not sure how that works.

    There is an entitlement to parental leave, so that shouldn't be an issue once you're with a new employer for a year. However, getting them to continue to pay you during parental leave is very messy and I can't see any company agreeing to it unless it's a very small outfit. You'll just have to manage your own finances to cope with it.
