    guys,

Im just wondering if anyone has any advice on completing the green cert but living overseas (as ye probably know im in the uk working).
could you just fly in for the farm visits etc or how much notice do they give?.
Also i will only be starting out (hopefully) with a small acreage. Should i use a different farm as my case study?.

We have someone on our course doing it.it was a pain as they had to come home ever 2/3 weeks just booked the days off in advance.i wouldn't worry about the home farm study as long as you know something about farming you'll get away with it.but I think the days have gone up now

currently on the Green Cert its doable from the UK but you will need to be able to plan your days off from work well in advance. Its one day a month plus 5 days over the summer. The bad news is that is goes from the current 18 months course to a 24 month course next year and maybe more days. (Thats the rumour anyway). If I were you I would look into doing a Green Cert course in the UK. Lived in the UK and Writtle College in Essex do similar courses; or did a few years ago. No problem using any farm that you have some connection to; lots lads using uncles, neighbours etc. Meant to add can be a bit random what college you get as the course in 2014 was oversubscribed and Ag college you are attached to may not be closest to where you live/farm. Best advice is contact Teagasc directly they are pretty sound and will help
