To say above that J and J autocare are dodgy is an understatement. Dont go near them at all costs. They are stereotypical of the bad things you hear about used car dealers. Bought a car from them very recently. Guarantee explicitly said 3 months or 2000km. The clutch went on it within 3 months the guarantee time. I rang the owner to enquire about repairs. He said guarantee 'only covered engine and gearbox' even though the guarantee said 3 months or 2000km. For your own sake, stear well clear of them.

It's pretty standard for the warranty to only cover engine and gearbox on second hand cars

To be a bit fair, very few warranties include replacing a clutch unless a component of it was found to be defective. Clutches are normally classed as wear and tear items similar to a battery or tyre.

This "avoid like the plague" stuff doesn't really wash universally imho.

The worst shadiest dealer in the world will take the odd good car into stock. If the price is right a good car is a good car whomever is selling it.

Clutch is considered a servicable part on most. They're bound to go at some stage and need changing just like tyres

babycham65, I have moved your post from an old thread to your own thread, and we'll see if we can help you.
Usually we don't allow people signing up to bad-mouth a business but as said above, clutch is usually not often covered as it is regarded as a consumable depending on age of car.

What car model and year is this we're talking about?
