Got 2nd car, wanted to get 2nd policy for it but was refused because apprently I can't be main driver + 1 named driver on two cars.

What is this ****? Any workaround it?

You can have as many policies as you like in your own name. Do you want to add a class of driver (young, learner's permit, different address) that might make them suspicious it is for them to use as a primary vehicle?

Something fishy going on here perhaps?

are you trying to be named drive on a car that would be very hard to insure as the main driver ?

    More details:

    I am 22, currently driving golf mk4 2001 - 1.4.
Have 3 years no claims bonus.

My mother is named driver (provisional)

I bought another car, opel corsa 2008, 1.0,

Wanted to get policy for it to be main driver + named driver.

Basically two same policies on two different cars.

shouldn't be an issue but your ncb won't carry over.

suggestion would be to make your mother the main driver on the other car and you go named driver on that one.

Exactly, especially if she is involved in a crash and ends up claiming. You don't want to lose your NCB, not at 22 anyway.

Thats the crazy thing, In Ireland you can only have a NCB history on one car at a time.

A while back I had an IS200 and a 1.3 Yaris insured with no difficulty from the AA. Also had the same named driver on both of them.

Think the policies were with two different companies

Ncb won't carry as said. I'd also consider getting Ncb protection for both policies as a claim on one can affect the Ncb on the other as far as I know.

    Well, I called:

My brokers who gave me insurance at AXA for Golf.
And then I called AXA directly, and this happened.

Should I try AA or other insurance companies?

Are you trying to do this so that the second policy is cheaper with you and not your mother as the main driver?

Not only that, but also avoiding all the possible crap with changing car ownership. Was told today that car needs to be owned by my mother in order to get her insured as main driver.

That's true. Only husband and wife can have main polices with the other as owner.

You were probably trying to use your NCB on 2 separate cars????

    Yes.

You can't do that, you'd have to get a policy with no ncb

I see why I was refused now.
Thanks, I will try again tomorrow.
