What's your favourite fable/fairytale when you relate it to running?

    I've got two.

The Tortoise and the Hare, because it shows if you keep chipping away you're capable of beating faster runners than you if they get complacent.

The Emperors New Clothes is another one I like. The little kid in the story represents the race clock. That doesn't lie no matter how much pre-race bluffing you've done and how many people believe/go along with you.

    Any other favourites?

How about the Ant & the Grasshopper - no shortcuts when it comes to training. You need to put the work in etc..... :)

The wolf in sheep's clothing -

One suited to life in general but can be applied quite easily to running as well. Lots of plans/coaches/opinions out there. It pays to check them out properly & get trusted advice before committing.

I suppose almost all of them can be applied to running as well as general life when you think about them a little bit :)

tang1 & TbL the favourites at the moment. Murph is due to come into his own in the Autumn though. Close betting heat.

The Three Muskateers. I am d'Artagnan, AKW is Porthos, Shotgun is Athos and Shane is Aramis.

One for all and all for one :D

Has to be the gingerbread man. Just get fooking on with it, and stop admiring your work!

    Hmmmm....positives and negatives :D
Porthos, honest and slightly gullible, is the extrovert of the group, enjoying wine, women and song. Though he is often seen as the comic relief, he is also extremely dedicated and loyal toward his friends and fellow Musketeers. His eating abilities even impress King Louis XIV during a banquet at Versailles.

Spoiler alert? Sure everyone knows how that one ended. Besides, this isn't the Game of Thrones forum.

Hmmm, Game of Thrones, there's an idea...

I'll have to be a little more obvious with my sarcasm, and emoticons! Unless you're playing me?
