Hi! I was thinking of doing a beauty therapy course in cork college of commerce the requirements are just leaving cert nothing about grades but my guidance teacher told me they only accept people who get a's and b's not c's or d's so I'm wondering is this true?

I think your best bet is to phone them and ask, good luck.

I don't know what the grades are like but I did beauty therapy (elsewhere) after doing law for 4 years and hands down it was really difficult.

For your exams, your pass rate in both theory and practical is 60% for ITEC/CIBTAC and 70% for CIDESCO
You do a lot of anatomy and physiology, the systems of the body, muscles, bones, position action insertion origin of each muscle.
You have to learn the cosmetic chemistry, the ingredients and where they come from of products you're using.
You'll learn how to destroy hair follicles, how to break down cellulite by assisting the body with a machine.
You have case study after case study on everything you do. Off the top of my head you have
X5 for each facial machines (5 machines)
    X5 for waxing
x5 for pedicure and so on that's just for ITEC

You then have to have your cse hours for CIBTAC

Your specialised subject and thesis for CIDESCO.

You don't have to be a genius, but the course is tough, it's a lot of work, it's intense, it's difficult. It demands 100% dedication. If you're doing it with the mindset it'll be a doss, easy out, fun. It's not. You have to grow your hair so no shaving so other people can wax you. You'll have so many facials your skin will be ruined. You'll be strapped up to all sorts of machines, faradic, galvanic, G5, you'll have to get your stretch marks and boobs out for girls to work on you with micro current. Youll see and be naked just as much as you'll be dressed, you'll have your tutor see you with no knickers/disposable knickers. You'll let your classmates stick epilation needles in your bikini line and in your face.

It's not all fun and games at all. But, when you put the work in it's amazing getting the return.

I'm not trying to put you off, but if you're happy enough getting c and d results and not making an effort or putting work in, this course is not for you. Like I said, you don't need to be a genius but you need to be dedicated and be able to study and work hard.
    Good luck
