Developing land and zoning

I am due to inherit some land in a rural settlement/village in county Kildare, I dont live in the areas (my uncle left it to me) .... Only around 5 acres. According to the Kildare County Development Plan the land is zoned as part of the villages "existing settlement" even though there is no development on this piece of land. There are some settlement houses already in the other areas of the zoning
Should i just go to the council and talk to them?. I have no idea about such things

Highly doubtful that it's actually zoned anything but instead is classified as a settlement or village. Look up what that means under the county development plan, as in what policies they have for such villages.

Thanks, yeah just did. Aparently the area is zoned for strengthening as a rural settlement under the 2011-17 county development plan. I guess my question is can this land be developed as its zoned but has no actual development on it. Is what i would be asking KCC planning

Yep, in principle the land can be developed. Arrange a pre planning meeting to discuss the idea and they will provide relevant info for that land and what sort of development they could consider there.

Is that so: don't seem obvious to me.

Op, sort the tax before any pre-planning meeting as Dev land could be worth a lot more than agri, wet, full of rushes and peat, wyiyth the village bypass to run through it
