    HI all,
cold water tap in down stairs toilet basin has stopped working. I have checked the pipe and water is flowing no problem, so the issue is with the tap. It can tap head can rotate and twist but noting is coming out. Any ideas on how to fix the problem?

I have bought a replacement set of taps, but I cant get the nut attaching the old hot tap to the under side of the basin off or even loose, its to tight and extremely awkward to get to. any tips would be appreciated apart from having to get a plumber in.

Are you in an area with a lot of lime in the water? Can jam up taps.
Try a "crows foot" wrench on the nut under the basin.

If there is a cut off valve on the pipe below the tap ( hopefully, if not you have to work fast)
then you could soak the old taps in limescale dissolved overnight.
