USC Weekly Bands

I'm confused about these, and wonder can anyone help? I know that the weekly bands are first 231 at 1.5%, next 107 at 3.5% balance at 7%
but when I run through payroll program, the whole amount is being taxed at 1.5%, even though weekly gross is over 500 euro. Payroll support company says that will happen till the person's gross hits more than 12012 but that seems wrong to me based on the weekly bands, can anyone help me out, or even post the best number to call Revenue on to check. Thanks.

Check what came through P2C, sometime USC gets capped but it's usually at 3.5% and not 1.5%

Thanks for the reply. I don't have a P2C file, but there is no cap on the persons income. I'll just have to call revenue and ask I guess, I need to be sure of the advise I have been given.

OK, I've checked with revenue and they advise to stick to the yearly amounts, so till the person hits over 12K, all USC is levied at 1.5%, and so on, so the weekly bands shouldn't be used! There you go, clear as mud from the start.

That makes no sense, what if they dont go over €12012 until week 52, they then owe €345.18. Where I work, our softward takes the threshold over the 52 weeks.

It makes none to me either TBH, why do they give weekly bands if they are not used or monthly for that matter? It makes no sense whatsoever to me. And it's a huge difference in USC too. I've worked it out manually with the weekly bands at just over 20 euro per week USC and the payroll calcs it at 9 euro. What I am afraid is an under-taxing of USC and at the end of the year the employees will owe Revenue. I don't know what to do now, this still doesn't sit right with me, even if revenue said it's OK.

Screamer u are totally right in what ur saying USC is on week by week basic so it will balance out year end. Whom ever in revenue told u to stick to the yearly amount is wrong that wud leave a serious payment due at year end that wud eat most the persons wages.
