    Hi all,
I'm just looking for a few courses that may have a high C.S.S in or around the Dublin, Meath, Kildare and Wicklow area?
Was also hoping to play a few opens away over the next few months and would like to know of a few when the weather really sets in that might stay in play most of the year round without placing. (mostly links im guessing)

In terms of a course with a high standard scratch moyvalley near enfield can be as high as 75 (based on looking at the results of the last few friday opens there) but it generally depends on how windy it is on the day as to how high the CSS is. Placing will come in there in the winter though so its not a place that will have qualifying comps year round.

Roganstown is usually fairly high and usually have counting comps thru October but was November 2 years ago.
Portmarnock is the only course in Dublin that has counting comps thru the winter.

Corballis do too, usually a high css as well.
Apparently St.Annes will be following suit this winter.

I think this is Portmarnock Links rather than Old Portmarnock. They have a weekly open comp midweek.

No I think is the answer to that, very few clubs do them at the weekends during the summer, u may get the odd one in the links portmarnock.
Corballis usually has placing during the winter for club comps, opens may be different.

I think I've only ever played 1 non qualifying round out there Mike.
There is placing, but it's "fairways only" the majority of the time, in my experience.

That's because it makes feck all difference placing in rough when it's up to your neck. But your right it was placing on fairways only all last winter

Arklow plays all year, great track to play bone dry as you watch the rain drift over the wicklow hills :)

Portmarnock links is qualifying all year round but the only regular open is the winter series, which is a pro am event every Tuesday for 3 months, it is strokes off the Blues with a maximum handicap of 9, so the css is usually about 74 I would guess.
