Have been using EIDTags on calves for 2 years now the chip no is not the same as no displayed on tag - you get supplies a bucket tag list ( that's what Mullinahone called it when they emailed it )

This list is Fine for Shem you are setting up calf on feeder but I had to replace a calf EIDTag no and haven't been told as yet what the new no in the tag is ( I presume it is different )

I saw at Dairymaster open day that momonitor tags can be red by passing phone over it. I app something that anyone can use or get ?

    It would be handy
I searched but all I found was a wand ( reader ) that you can plug phone into

My terminology might be wrong but the EID tags use low frequency RFID 125 KHz, no smartphones that I know will read that, only NFC which is a high frequency RFID 13.56 MHz. The moomonitors almost certainly use some form of high frequency tags. So to read department approved EID tags, you're stuck to getting a reader of some sort, and also one that is compatible with your EID tags.
