    So...
Got stopped by a traffic corps for driving round a corner too fast about 3-4 months ago in Dublin. Not breaking speed limit but he wasn't happy with my driving. I'd agree with him it was a bit OTT. 9-10AM in the morning folks FYI.

Anyways he wasn't specific about what sort of points I'd get or not. So i rang up the garda office to check if they'd given me points or not about a month later, they said nothing was showing up on their system against my name, reg, and driving licence. But she said that it can take up to 3 months to go through sometimes.
So I rang 3 months after the incident and still nothing, happy days I thought, it was just a warning the garda gave me..

Got this letter in the post just over a week ago. Its over 3 months after the incident and I thought I'd been let off :(
Is there a time limit on how long after a gard stopping you he has to give point or not? Am I definitely getting these points or is it too long since when it happened?

    EDIT:
    date of incident = 12/05/15
    date of notice= 28/08/15

So does that mean you get 80 quid and 2 points for drifting, is that right?

Haha I wouldn't call it drifting, back right wheel slid on the dusty part of the road on a left hand turn. But yes it seems so, took the garda 3 months to make up his mind though

Actually it's three and a half months for a fixed charge offence because they have to allow for the 2 months to pay and time to issue a summons.

There's 6 months before the offence goes statute barred (statute of limitations).

Guard has 126 days to issue the ticket as they're required to give you 56 days to pay it, summons is then issued on the 57th day.

Ah now I see.. so he had another 21 days to issue it and still be within that period. That Guard sure knows how to make 80quid sting
