Another unmetered bill

My second IW bill is unmetered. Why are IW not reading meters ? Isnt the whole point of IW conservation at the end of the day ?

I called the helpline 3 months ago, gave the agent the actual meter number that was installed and he promised me he would send me an updated bill with usage attached, that never materialised.

Today, i get another bill, which i am more than happy to pay and yet again i dont know if i have a leak or not because the meter has not been read.

This is becoming a small bit farcical and a money generator rather a conservation matter.

    I will PM my details.

No generic PM for reps ? Ill Pm all of ye.

Edit: Where is my children’s water allowance of 21m3 (21,000 litres) ?

Is it not widely known that meteted charges won't be utilised till 2018?

Whats that got to do with anything ?

If i use less i will be charged less.

The meter should be read to let me know how much water i am using and whether my conservation efforts are a waste of time or fruitful or if i have a leak piss1ng water everywhere.

    2 days and no reply.

Let me hazard a guess as to why i am unmetered on my paper bill but my online account says metered.

Its the same either way isnt it ? till 2018, IW isnt going to bother its arse driving down my road to read my meter because no matter how much water i use i am capped, wonderful.

    Water conservation me bollix.

The reason i have an unmetered bill is because irish water is sitting back and just taking my money regardless of usage is slowly pulling me over to the other side, the non payers.

Irish water, you have my details. Let me know my water usage please.

If you want to check usage versus what appliances are on etc it's much easier to lift the lid and read the meter than wait for quarterly readings, it'll give you a much better idea of what you're actually using.

I know my usage, i am well able to read my meter.

    IW seemingly are not.

So if you know the usage then why do you need IW to check your meter? They have no plans to do so until 2018 so until then check it yourself. Simple. Not much point in them using resources to check the meter if the bill is capped anyway.

Mine was checked and I was charged less than the cap on the second bill so it can make a difference.

Your second post made it seem like you didn't know. You said the meter should be read to let you know your usage.

I didn't think they were doing this?

The currently introduced cap is to save the high volume consumers (or should I say the wasters). from to be penalized.
And also to save the rich men money!

Now I'm paying the same amount as the neighbour who is leaving in huge house with xx acres residential garden, which is watered everyday and his water consumption is n times more than mine.

Don't understand why most of the people were satisfied when the cap limit was introduced? This is an official government robbery, guess who is benefiting from this cap?

Much fair will be if any premise is charged the exact consumed amount of water (pay as you use), then everybody will be monitoring the water usage and if somebody wants to have a nice big garden- let him pay.

And as I mentioned in my previous post, quite common practice is the residential estates with mainly small houses, to be left without water meters, this way forcing each household to pay the maximum "capped" fee.

Probably the next government decision will be to introduce cap on PAYE? :-)

    Hi Amy, Yes, you responded.

You told me that yes, my previous bills have been unmetered, basically what my original complaint was, and further bills will be metered, so we will just have to wait and see.

You never gave a reason as to why.

Is it a case of IW just couldent be bothered to read my bill because there is a charge cap in place ?
