Moved out from someone else's old thread

Ii suggest you contact the renter, they will have handled many similar queries I'm sure (they will probably just charge your credit card).

Rental company won't charge anything to your card. They won't collect payments for another agency. They will simply pass you personal details onto the agency concerned who will pursue you directly for it.

Quite the contrary. Whilst they may not pay the fine if it is not their legal position to do so (this may vary territory to territory), they will may happily stick on an "admin fee" for grassing you up.

    Hello,

Is the speeding ticket issue by the French government or the rental vehicle company?

If it is from the French Gov, put it in the bin, there is nothing they can do to you in Ireland.

If it is coming from the Rental Company, they are entitled to take the money from your Credit Card.
But you won't loose any points, for the simple reason they are applicable only for French driving licence holder AND you must admit to be the driver (You do it so by paying the fine, it is an acknowledgement that you are the driver).

You notice me English is not Shakespearian because I am a frog.

Well consider yourself lucky and that the staff handling your paperwork have been kind. I'll take back the "will" above and change it to "may".

cuadradito.gifFine Administration Fee: € 35.- per rental, tax included.

As with anything, read the small print. If you don't get charged, then it's a bonus. If you do get charged, don't complain.

What about "loosing" your card and cancelling it,then get a new one from the cc company. That one can't be charged anything.

    Doesn't matter, it's a pre-approved transaction.

Cancelling your card only stops any transactions after you report it lost/stolen.

When you are issued a new card pre-approved stuff can still be made to the old one.

    Source: Me .. It happened.
