Injectors- bench testing/ cleaning

My Suzuki bike was laid up for a couple of years and only started once or twice. I have gone through a process of servicing and recommissioning the bike but it has a couple of running complaints. Rough-ish running and excess heat causing my brand new stainless downpipes glow red while testing/ revving the bike in the garage. I have gone through steps to clean the fuel system out but I got stuck on the injectors...

I had already dumped the fuel but I went back and cleaned the tank, fuel pump filters and the fuel rail and added some Dipetane.

All of these things improved the running to what my mind appears to be running as good as when it was laid up which is perfectly, as far as I'm concerned. However, the pipes will glow making me suspect a lean mix hence the work,

However when attempting to fire the injectors what I found was that I would get a single click and a single spit of fuel (pressure only provided by a can of carb cleaner) and it wouldn't click/ spit again until I waited for about 10 seconds. All four were the exact same and the bike hadn't been running very badly in the first place so I just refitted them as I thought they must have a different design... but now it's annoying me; should they have been clicking every time I applied the voltage?

Is there are reason that I was getting just a single spit of fuel at a time?

I know when I was cleaning mine, when cleaning it in "reverse" it just gave a coupe of drips. That's all I can think of, or maybe too low voltage if using a 1.5 v battery ect.

You need to pulse the injectors to get them to operate otherwise you run the risk of burning out the coil in the injector. If you are concerned about the injectors, we can test them for operation, serviceability, flow rate and spray pattern.
If you are interested you can pm me.
    Hope this helps
