Ballsbridge to DCU

Hi I'm a second year student wondering how to get from Ballsbridge to DCU bearing in mind I don't drive. Everyone is telling me different things that is confusing me big time. Apparently the 4 goes all the way to DCU and will take about an hour however others have said not to bother as it will take forever and I can't risk being late for lectures. Others have said it is within cycling distance however it seems like some trek on maps. I'm a little confused and would love any feedback from someone that knows Dublin well. Thanks in advance.

Its about half an hour on a bike, thats nothing especially on the flat, you can have a Leap card and DART some of the way for rainy days, just cycle it, Dublin Bus cross city every day twice a day at what I assume will be rush hour will drive you mad.

Genius thanks for that! Wow half an hour doesn't sound bad at all. Do you know the route at all? Will I be heading into town at all or avoiding it at the point? Someone said I'd be going through housing estates or something. Yeah might steer clear of the bus so. Save a bit of cash too I guess

Just plot the route you want on Google Maps:

    https://www.google.ie/maps/dir/Ballsbridge,+Co.+Dublin/DCU+-+Dublin+City+University,+Glasnevin,+Dublin+9/@53.3577892,-6.2877639,13z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x48670ec1077b3405:0x1c1b6f4f4772ee4c!2m2!1d-6.2305235!2d53.3288697!1m5!1m1!1s0x48670e1b2f9d5d03:0x12bb45984107c2a8!2m2!1d-6.258945!2d53.385811!3e1

Thats just the one Google suggested, I might head North and cross the Liffey at the Samuel Beckett instead, you'll be able to try different routes and see whats best.

If you are close to the Appien Way/Leeson Street area then the 11 will get you to DCU as well.

If you're not used of cycling, and also because you'll not be used to the route, give your self 40-45mins to start with.

There are some hills near to DCU -- just take it easy.

I found when I started my commute to DCU years ago, from a similar distance away, that it took me around longer at first but I got it down to under a half hour.
