    1999 fORD fIESTA..How much oil goes into engine? I am going to change the engine oil and filter. Do i fill the oil filter before I put it back on and what type of oil do I use please

    if the filter is a vertical screw on filter ie you can fill it and screw it on without spilling the oil you should fill the filter, its always better as the engine gets the oil quicker.
    Dont forget to smear fresh oil on the seal and tighten hand tight but as tight as you can go though

    I usually put the oil filter back on and start filling oil till it's close enough to the full mark. Then start the engine without revving it and wait till the oil light goes out or the pressure gauge has settled. Turn engine off, wait 30 seconds and check oil again. Usually it will be lower now. Fill again till at max. Job done.
